Thanks Red Wings for a great season. It is clear to me after 7 games how evenly matched these two teams were, and someone had to win. It was Pittsburgh. In this game, they were slightly hungrier, determined, healthy; and Fleury made some big saves in the 3rd. How will Detroit fans handle this humbling loss? I honestly thought I would be livid and furious if they lost tonight, but I've learned that several Stanley Cup celebrations and many Bells Oberon beers are a great combo to appreciating a good game. Now we look forward to next season. The young guys on the Wings who got to experience this run will be hungry next year, and should contribute to another playoff-ready team.
The NHL scored big on this series in my opinion. Now, anytime the Wings and Pens play in the next few years, it will be a highly-watched, media-savvy game, which the NHL needs. How about three years in a row in the finals? We'll see you next year?
